Erin, 48 & Fabulous
Erin is one of the fabulous women who took part in the “40 over 40” portrait project this year! She is amazing and we had the most joyful day in the studio. And she brought her mother, Mary along who I had such a great time photographing as well!
Here is Erin’s experience in her own words:
Why did you decide to participate in this portrait experience?
Very rarely is there a photo of myself that I like. As I have gotten older I see less flaws in them, but that is more resignation than anything else. I wanted to see myself and think "WOW". I wanted to not only look beautiful but feel beautiful.
How did this experience affected your overall morale or confidence?
This experience was amazing! I felt empowered and sexy. I am extremely happy with my session and my pictures.
I think we all deserve to feel and look beautiful. We are constantly critiquing ourselves and this experience has shown me, my criticisms are unfounded. I finally see what I believe others see
What advice would you give the 20 year old version of yourself, knowing what you know now?
To own your own happiness. Build your strength and not rely on others for your validation. You are worth so much more than you think.
I absolutely adore how different every single shoot in this Over 40 project is. Some women choose more colour, some black and white, some boudoir style, other prefer more headshots or just a single portrait. There are NO RULES. No requirements. Just you and how you want to be seen. My goal is to show you the beauty that other’s see when they look at you!
